Alliant Energy Supervisor Track & Structures (Roadmaster) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Manages and administers the CRANDIC Railroad's maintenance, associated budgets, track safety standards and quality assurance.
Coordinates and plans maintenance and program track work with other departments to maximize track work and train operations. Updates management team regarding future track improvements.
Facilitates the employee empowerment process (Pro-Formance), consistent with the company's goals and corporate objectives.
Supervises and Performs track inspections and monitors track inspectors to ensure quality inspections for safe train operations.
Follows and monitors work practices, safety related issues to improve quality and performance.
Monitor and enforce FRA compliance along with company policies, rules and standards.
Manages and administers 49 CFR part 213 Regulations for Track Safety Standards.
Work with local, county and state agencies on railroad issues to create and continue good relations.
Demonstrates leadership in the area of safety. This requires observing and enforcing safety rules and practices, encouraging safe work behaviors, and promptly correcting conditions and unsafe behaviors which may lead to accidents.
Performs all management duties including, but not limited to, budgeting, hiring, performance reviews, coordinating and scheduling work, salary recommendations, discipline, ensure employees report to work fit for duty, leadership, grievance resolution, coaching & counseling, models Alliant Energy Core values at all times.
Performs work under the general supervision of the Manager –Track & Structures.
Supervises the work of professional, non-exempt and bargaining unit employees engaged in track work or other related work. Also, may supervise the work of external contractors.

CRANDIC Rail, a Travero company and subsidiary of Alliant Energy is seeking a Supervisor Track and Structures (Roadmaster) to join our team! This position will be located in Cedar Rapids, IA. In this position, you will be responsible for supervising various track maintenance functions to support field activity; including but not limited to: coordination and oversight of scheduled manpower, budgets, material management, re-collectible activity management, safety management, resolution of issues, meetings and training programs. You also will oversee the implementation of appropriate policies/procedures and provide guidance to the Section for a safe and efficient working environment.
This position is part of our Emergency Response team. Applicants must live within a 50 mile radius of: 1445 Rockford Rd SW Cedar Rapids, IA
Hours for this position are as follows:
Winter hours M-F 0700-1500
Production Hours M-TH 0600-1600 (or as needed)

Preferred Experience and Education
Bachelor's Degree with an emphasis in business administration, engineering or related area
3 years of experience with a railroad and/or railroad activities is preferred

Demonstrated effective leadership and supervisory skills preferred.
Demonstrated understanding of HAZ/MAT training, derailment causes and re-railing of rolling stock preferred.
Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identify process improvement need from data, perform root cause analysis and implement process improvement changes.
Demonstrated experience working in union environment.
Demonstrated financial skills such as budgeting and basic accounting.
Demonstrated prioritizing and organizational skills
Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management) preferred
Ability to work effectively in a diverse work environment
