Role Overview

The Collins Aerospace Integrated Product Support team is looking for a motivated Senior Supportability Engineer to work in our Cedar Rapids, IA location. We are seeking candidates that are passionate about systems engineering analysis with the ability to thrive in a very technical environment.

Integrated Product Support (IPS); which encompasses systems engineering analyses and planning tasks for communication and aviation electronics solutions. Act as a core member of a program Integrated Product Development Team (IPDT) providing advice, and product. Technical complexity will include the twelve elements of integrated product support, for electronic communications systems.

The candidate will work closely with Program Management, Technical Project Managers (TPMs), other Engineering disciplines (software, hardware, electrical, systems, RAM) and support staff to assure defined requirements are consistently met in all phases of the product life cycle.

Primary Responsibilities:

Work independently with limited oversight, including but not limited to performing integrated product support element activities for Programs, Projects, or Products.

Understand and employ processes and tools used to perform Obsolescence management (OM)/Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS).

Perform and develop Maintenance Planning.

Perform Life Cycle Cost/Cost of Ownership Analysis.

Perform and develop Diminishing Manufacturing and Material Shortages Analysis and Reports.

Develop Integrated Logistics Support Plan (ILSP).

Perform and develop Logistics Product Data Summaries (LPDS).

Gather and assimilate Logistic Maintenance Information/Data (LMI/LMD).

Perform and develop Level of Repair Analysis (LORA).

Perform Engineering Data for Provisioning (EDFP).

Develop Support Equipment Recommendation Data (SERD).

Interpret engineering drawings and utilize Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Engineering Central/Product Data Management application tools to ensure maintainability requirements are met.

Coordinate and lead discussions with project managers and engineering managers on resources and priority to complete required deliverables.

Develop Class II Engineering Change Orders (ECO).

Develop Technical Directives (TD); Time Compliance Change Orders (TCTO); and Engineering Change Proposals (ECP).

Perform Physical Configuration Audits (PCA).


· Must possess or have the ability to a obtain a DoD security clearance

· U.S. Citizenship

· Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline, in lieu of degree have seasoned experience performing integrated product support/maintainability analysis.

· Experience with SAE GEIA-STD-0007-B or legacy equivalents (i.e. MIL- STD-1388-2A).

· Familiarity with SD-22, Guidebook of Best Practices and Tools for Implementing a Proactive DMSMS Management Program.

· Strong leadership skills as demonstrated with interpersonal interaction, individual mentoring and training to develop other systems engineering team members.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to work well with others in a professional team environment.

· Experience working with customers to define requirements.

· Ability to travel 20%

A successful candidate may possess the following:

· Experience with engineering tools such as (Relex, SlicWave, Powerlog J, Compass, SysPAR).

· Experience in RAM or RMA field.

Preferred Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
