This position may be located at any of our general offices located in Cedar Rapids, IA, Madison, WI or Dubuque, Iowa. Other work locations within Alliant Energy's service territory will also be considered.The individual selected for this position will be responsible for evaluating and reporting out on improved human factor designs for office, field and generation plant tasks. They will review new tooling, facility designs and environments to optimize human well-being and overall system performance, applying theory, principles, and data regarding the relationship between humans and any respective technology.Additionally. they will investigate and analyze characteristics of human behavior, accident reports involving body motion injuries and human performance as it relates to the use of technology. This position will be responsible for delivering training on the human factors skills and posture control methods to reduce risk on any task performed. This position reports to the Lead Ergonomist/Lead Safety Specialist.This position may me filled at a senior levelThis position required significant travel throughout the Alliant Energy service territoryAlliant Energy will not provide employment visa sponsorship for this position now or in the future.Job ResponsibilitiesTask evaluations; will collect data through direct observation of work activities or witnessing conduct force and loading tests.Will perform interviews or surveys of users or customers to collect information on topics such as requirements, needs, fatigue, ergonomics, or interfaces.Responsible for preparing reports or presentations summarizing results or conclusions of human factors engineering or ergonomics activities, such as testing, investigation, or validation.Delivers training as needed and recommend workplace changes to improve health and safety, using knowledge of potentially harmful factors, such as heavy loads or repetitive motions.Conducts activities related to hazard identification, including the identification of conditions, methods, or processes having the potential to cause damage or injury to people or property for corporate and energy operations business units. Typical tasks include visual inspections, review of documentation, interviews or inquires, literature searches, application of hazard analyses methods, and/or system safety analyses.Organizes and conducts hazard evaluations and compares the existing hazard levels to standards. Hazard evaluations may include the safety testing of equipment or processes and making computations to establish the level of hazard or risk.Conducts safety inspection/audit activities related to hazard identification, including the identification of conditions, methods, or processes having the potential to cause damage or injury to people or property.Assists in the development and maintenance of safety policies and procedures. Supports the communication of technical advice, policy and program interpretation and consultation in response to inquiries from within the corporation.Attends Local Safety Leadership team meetings and other various safety team meetings to provide safety expertise and recommend actions to reduce injuries.Participates in meetings or hearings in an information collection role for targeted project areas and ensures that appropriate managers and other safety consultants
