What You Will Do: As part of Transamerica’s team you will be responsible for validating various complex financial and actuarial models to assist Transamerica in fulfilling its commitment of a lifetime of financial security for our customers and other stakeholders. You will be working in a dynamic organization where innovation is a key requirement.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Perform actuarial peer review, testing, and documentation activities on projection, valuation, pricing, experience study, and ALM hedging models.

  • Support actuarial product line model owner teams, model conversion teams, and Risk Model Validation team to execute first-line model validations and support second-line model validations.

  • Partner and actively engage with the Actuarial teams to provide model governance/control guidance, support, and best practices.

  • Partner with Model Planning and Model Change Management Teams to implement actuarial policies and procedures.

  • Monitors and analyzes developments in actuarial techniques, laws, and regulations applicable to company operations, and competitive developments in the marketplace.

  • Execute significant and complex data manipulation and complex calculations using macros or other programs and analytical findings.


  • Must possess excellent understanding of investment and finance concepts, and be able to creatively apply them in solving analytical problems in the business setting. Must possess excellent communication skills.

  • Requires a degree in mathematics, actuarial science, finance, business, or related field with 3 years experience.

  • Preferred: In-depth experience with Annuity products and/or ALM hedging models.

  • Preferred: Thorough understanding of relevant industry regulations.

  • Preferred: Strong mathematical skills and statistical aptitude.

  • Preferred: Experience on modeling platforms (e.g., ALFA, AXIS, etc.).

  • Preferred: Strong analytical skills and focus to assess the problem and find a solution.
