Cargill Packaging Operator in Cedar Rapids, Iowa

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to manage equipment associated with the CTS flour & extrusion packaging processes. Interacts on a regular basis with the CTS Operator, soy flour customers, warehouse personnel, supervisors and other personnel.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Operate equipment associated with the production process. This may include grain handling, processing and/or, conveyance, packaging, equipment

  • Operate and monitor the process

  • Ensure accurate information of the operating logs, bills of landing, scale weights and transaction are recorded

  • Assist with the collection and processing of samples

  • Operate a forklift to move packaged products or equipment

  • Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment utilized by facility; determine inmediate and long-range needs for maintenance and repair work. Enter work orders utilizing maintenance computer program (SAP)

  • Troubleshoot minor problems as required

  • Communicate in a courteous and positive manner to accomplish duties effectively, working as a team with all involved

  • Understand and adhere to all safety policies and procedures

  • Mantain a safe and clean work enviroment

  • Other duties as assigned


  • Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

  • Be 18 years or older

  • Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written)

  • High School diploma or Equivalent.

  • Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice

  • Ability to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment with or without reasonable accommodation

  • Basic computer skills.

  • Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to 50 lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation

  • Must be able to operate machinery.

  • Must be able to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions with the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc.

  • Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above)

  • At least 1 year of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing or industrial enviroment


  • Forklift experience

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft office software, with an emphasis on Excel and Word

  • Experience with SAP or a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
