Our navigation solutions provide enhanced situational awareness and pinpoint accuracy for airborne and surface missions worldwide. Leading the way in the GPS and radio navigation technology, our array of products and systems cover airborne, precision-guided landing systems, ground handheld receivers and embedded applications.
Collins is looking for a SEPP Electrical Engineering Intern with a passion for engineering and the desire to be part of an innovative, dedicated team responsible for designing, developing, and testing of industry-leading navigation products. Our summer engineering program in the PNT department will focus around designing the next generation of technology for RF distribution in our Assured PNT NavHub solution.
The successful candidate will be involved in the entire design process including requirements capture, design and layout, integration, verification, transition to manufacturing, collateral support and customer interface. The applicant should possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, as close integration with other team members including hardware, software, systems, test and operations will be necessary.
Senior engineers will be available to provide mentoring to develop your skills as a design engineer and to increase your depth of knowledge in GPS technology.
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Good teamwork skills
• A desire to participate on a results-oriented, product development team
• Be highly motivated; self-directed; and able to balance multiple tasks
• Technical aptitude and professionalism
• An understanding of current electrical engineering design processes
• Prior experience in GPS development
• Experience with CAD layout and design (DxDesigner is a plus)
• Familiarity with Engineering Development tools like DOORS, Matlab, Simulink, Enterprise Architect, etc.
• Experience with GPS simulators
• Experience with hardware description languages (e.g. VHDL, etc.)
• Experience with modern software languages (e.g. Java, C, C++, C#, Python, perl, etc.)
