Provide oversight for the metallurgical processes and lab functions.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all metallurgical lab functions, including calibration and maintenance of equipment.
Responsible for chemical and mechanical certification data. Also signs certifications if needed.
Responsible for chemistry control in both foundries (i.e., alloy addition sheets and final correction calculations).
Responsible for failure analysis.
Provide technical support for welding procedures and qualifications as required.
Responsible for heat treatment job instructions and oven surveys.
Responsible for thermal analysis in the Iron Foundry.
Responsible for evaluation of melting stock and alloys.
Assist in scrap evaluation and corrective action.
Assist in the quotation process, as required.
Support of quality management system.
Support of global purchasing efforts through testing and technical assistance.
Assist engineering with metallurgical and technical support on specification review on project orders and new materials.
Conduct annual Bill of Material review.
Analyze material usage for environmental report.
Must have the ability to communicate technical information across functions.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Engineering with a metallurgical emphasis
OTHER SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum 5 years of experience preferred.
Welding background desirable.
ASME code experience desirable.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
Must have the ability to effectively communicate with customers, suppliers and all levels of corporate and company personnel.
Has contact with Quality, Foundry Manufacturing, Sales, Accounting, Engineering, Manufacturing Services, Purchasing, Machine Shop, and vendors.
