Job Description

This position will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Burlington quality systems including but not limited to internal audits, layered audits, work instruction tracking and implementation and ensuring full compliance with IATF16949 and ISO requirements. This QE position will also be responsible for being the main customer contact for a select group of customers and communicate the customer requirements to manufacturing and necessary support groups. Participates in solving complex quality problems and use the following tools: corrective action procedures, APQP, PPAP, Control Plan, PFMEA, SPC, lean manufacturing, and 5S.

Required Skills


  • Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes.

  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations.

  • Supervise and assist hourly employees in Quality Lab as required.

  • Ensure all customerquality requirements are met. (significant or critical characteristics if needed)

  • Lead containment and corrective action activities for all customer quality issues. (internal and external concerns).

  • Work on APQP to determine quality rates and goals for all new product launches.

  • Participates in internal and external audits of both products and processes to ensure desired quality level is met and maintained.

  • Participates in developing and maintaining industry accepted quality standard policies and procedures.

  • Work on process improvements including but not limited to poka yokes, machine capabilities, and scrap reduction.

  • Participates in developing and maintaining IATF 16949 policies and procedures.

  • Review and communicate customer scorecards.

  • Notity staff of all new customer issues.

  • Participate in MRB dispositions, and control of NC product

  • Perform internal and external audits

  • Problem solving using quality tools such as FMTips, GM 5 Why, APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, SPC, lean manufacturing and 5S.

  • Assists manufacturing engineer to create machine specific PFMEAs and lead in the creation of control plans for each process considering multiple processing methods

Required Experience


  • A bachelor’s degree in a technical or engineering field or equivalent is required.


  • Demonstrated knowledge of IATF16949 systems.

  • Thorough understanding of automotive OEM’s specific requirements on quality.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Engineering Change Process.

  • Willingness to travel when required (expected to be minimal)
