Manatt's Inc (Dispatcher) Logistics Coordinator in Brooklyn, Iowa

SUMMARY

FT Hourly Seasonal Position (Approximately April to November)

Works to drive increased productivity and capture synergies across the entire trucking fleet. Will use XBE data to monitor, dispatch and

recommend improved route management for aggregate, cement and equipment hauling. Coordinates activities of drivers engaged in

delivering products and construction equipment to plant sites, job sites, and customers. Seasonal FT position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops optimal route designs that minimize miles and transit using XBE.

  • Responsible for daily XBE dispatch of fleet, both owned and leased assets.

  • Drives a personal leadership culture where team members recognize the link between performance, safety, and accountability through

daily staff management.

  • Monitors XBE 100% of the workday watching for discrepancies and addressing them on the fly.

  • Supports senior management in identifying areas for process improvement and cost savings to include the use of updated technology.

Assists product management, customer service and other relevant party on most effective way to transport materials and equipment.

  • Communicates with equipment manager, supervisors, plant managers, job foremen, and outside customers for delivery of aggregates

and other materials.

  • Coordinates deliveries with company truck drivers and external trucking companies to ensure timely delivery of materials to internal

and external customers.

  • Hires and schedules outside trucks to assist in deliveries to plants and jobs.

  • Provides constant review of timecard and driver activities in XBE, correcting and coaching as needed.

  • Tracks drivers’ hours of service and monitors logbooks to ensure DOT compliance.

  • Reviews reports to help identify successes and opportunities from within the XBE system.

  • Compiles list of available trucks.

  • Assigns trucks according to factors such as length and purpose of trip, and freight requirements.

  • Uses XBE to monitor time of departure, destination, cargo, and expected time of return.

  • Investigates overdue trucks.

  • Directs activities of drivers by two-way radio or other available communication method.

  • May occasionally be required to drive or escort a commercial motor vehicle and load/unload trucks.

  • During absence of other dispatch personnel, additional tasks may be required.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management preferred; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or

equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability

to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the

organization.

Mathematical Skills

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to

compute rate, ratio, and percentage.

Reasoning Ability

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with

problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, XBE experience preferred.
