VIVA USA Inc Unit Supervisor in Ankeny, Iowa

Is responsible for achieving departmental/area goals and objectives. Supervises production, maintenance and/or warehouse employees in operations or processes requiring semi-skilled to unskilled employees to ensure that the goals of the department and organization are achieved. The supervisor is the first- line liaison between the production employees and the management staff and thus also serves the function of representing the company's interests with the shop floor staff. Duties: Supervises and leads the development and execution of departmental plans to achieve objectives in safety, quality, schedule, efficiency and continuous improvement. Investigates, analyzes and resolves various system, part, people or process issues to correct deficiencies, reduce costs, improve processes/performance. Administers employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules appropriate for the unit. Monitors individual and line performance and takes corrective action including discipline, as needed and responds to complaints to insure the Company and employees adheres to policies, practices, procedures and work rules. Works with Safety Team in meeting company standards and enforces safety regulations to prevent and eliminate injuries. Plans for maintenance of equipment and facilities to maximize the uptime and utilization of capital equipment assets. Manages and controls costs to stay within the department operating budget targets. Establishes employee environment regarding communications, feedback and overall guidance. Ensures that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction and tools to successfully do their job. Directs departmental continuous improvement plans and activities. 1st shift position (6:30 am to 3:00 pm). Overtime should be expected, before and after shift end along with potential weekend work. Your Responsibilities As a Production Supervisor/Team Leader , you will be responsible for leading a wage workforce to meet the manufacturing and/or distribution priorities based on the production schedule. In addition, you will: Be responsible for leading a wage workforce to accomplish the safety, quality, delivery, and efficiency goals through Continuous Improvement (CI) plans and activities Ensure that assigned personnel have appropriate training, work instruction and tools to successfully do their job Lead safety through regular safety communications, driving engagement in the CI Safety and Ergonomic Risk Assessment process, prompt near miss reporting with a focus on quick, thorough safety corrective actions Monitor Control Plans, troubleshoot workmanship problems, and generally supervise production activities to ensure that manufactured products meet or exceed all established quality requirements Lead employee engagement activities, while establishing a positive employee environment through communications, feedback and overall guidance Monitor individual/group performance and take corrective action including discipline, as needed and respond to complaints to ensure the Company and employees adhere to policies, practices, procedures, and work rules What Skills You Need (Required skills/experiences) Excellent communicator, who thrives on solving problems and working in a team environment Experience with, or supporting, shop floor manufacturing and/or warehouse operation Demonstrated team leadership skills and initiative Experience communicating across functions (such as: supply management, engineering, operations, and human resources or labor relations) Ability and flexibility to work across shifts based on production needs What Makes You Stand Out (Desired skills/experiences) Experience with continuous improvement pay plans (CIPP) Experience with wage/union employee policies, practices, procedures and work rules Experience in leadership or supervision of a union workforce Working knowledge of the CI continual improvement process and 5S Experience in maintenance background Education Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following: Bachelor’s degree in one of the following; Business/Management, Engineering/Technology, Supply Management or Accounting/Finance discipline Or equivalent prior experience.
