Mrs Clark’s Foods Maintenance Technician in Ankeny, Iowa

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for the maintenance and/or repairs all manufacturing and supporting equipment as well as all building and property systems. Position is also responsible for maintaining equipment as per preventive maintenance scheduling. This is a full-time, non-exempt position that reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. We are looking for candidates interested in 2nd or 3rd shift.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Installs new or relocated machinery, in terms of providing electrical supply to the equipment

  • Completes work orders: replaces lamps or ballast, repairs or replaces hoses & pumps; completes a myriad of tasks related to maintenance/repair of all mfg. equip. & building systems

  • Determines proper course of action, related to repair vs. replacement vs. modification of equipment, tools, etc., and makes recommendations regarding such to supervisor

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment

  • Checks and listens for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors or other maintenance workers to diagnose problem or repair machine

  • Dismantles defective machines and equipment and installs new or repaired parts

  • Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery

  • Lays out, assembles, installs, and maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repairs gauges, values, pressure regulators and related equipment

  • Repairs and maintains physical structure of facility

  • Sets up and operates machine tools to repair, fabricate machine parts, tools, etc.

  • Fabricates and repairs counters, benches, partitions, and other wooden structures

  • Gathers pricing information from vendors, as needed

  • Ensure compliance to plant policies and Federal and State regulations including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

  • Maintains continual communication with other team members including the immediate supervisor, quality control, production scheduling, warehouse, etc. in order to keep the facility running as efficiently as possible; occasional contact with outside vendors

  • Adhere to quality and safety standards

  • Accurately record hours worked

  • Other duties and/or special projects as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required

  • One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred, plus three to six months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Strong, related experience in a food production environment required

  • General mechanical skills preferably in a manufacturing environment, required

  • Basic computer skills needed – Microsoft word, excel and e-mail

  • Good interpersonal skills required

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Must be detail oriented and quick learner

  • Ability to work within deadlines

  • Ability to work alone or as a member of a team, good cooperative skills

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

  • May require flexibility in scheduling

Pay:

  • $20-$25 based on experience; OT may be required; Shift Differential available for qualifying shifts

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be expected to work both outside a plant facility and inside a manufacturing environment with regular exposure to changing temperatures (hot, cold, humid), moving mechanical parts, dust, fumes, chemicals, and loud noises. The noise level in the work environment can be loud; vibration levels are moderate.
