Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

Facilities Planning and Management at Iowa State University seeks applicants for a Systems Control Technician who will apply knowledge and skills to install, maintain, calibrate, and repair complex elevator systems. Duties include: locating problems by monitoring systems, interpreting computer readings and conducting performance tests; monitoring systems through manipulation of software; and service as technical consultant in the area of computer controlled elevator systems.

The successful candidate will have experience troubleshooting a variety of complex issues relating to passenger and freight elevators; hydraulic, cable and traction elevators; and elevator auxiliary devices. This position requires the ability to work on a team and the ability to communicate effectively, professionally and positively with a variety of individuals.

Required Qualifications

Six years of experience in the electrical and control trade, including apprenticeship or graduation from a two-year resident instrumentation and controls program.

Candidates whose qualifications substantially exceed the minimum required qualifications relative to the demands of the position may, upon the request of an employing department, be appointed at a higher rate of pay than the entry hourly rate listed above.
