Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

The Office of the Vice President of Research (VPR) at Iowa State University is accepting applications for a Training Program Coordinator who will lead the design, development, and implementation of a comprehensive portfolio of training program to meet the VPR Office’s goals of increasing research funding and enhancing commitment to ethical research practice. The Training Program Coordinator will be a key member of the Vice President for Research’s staff and will work closely and collaboratively with the various units that report to it (OSPA, ORR, LAR, Grants Hub), subject-matter-experts (SME), partnering units, and stakeholders. Responsibilities include understanding the needs of the various offices, assessing the learning gaps, and facilitating the subject-matter-experts and unit heads in conceptualizing and developing the content for a comprehensive set of topic-specific training programs. Additional duties include planning, coordinating, organizing, and helping the subject-matter-expert/unit head deliver the training programs, and working with various delivery methods appropriate for audiences at different levels, including in-person training, webinars, interactive modules, and instructional videos. This position will develop appropriate tools to assess learning outcomes and use that information to evaluate and improve the training programs. The successful candidate will have advanced communication and interpersonal skills as well as the competence and creativity to convey complex information to a broad range of stakeholders. The candidate will also have strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of related experience; OR a Master’s degree and 2 years of related experience; OR a combination of education and/or related experience totaling 8 years unless otherwise specified under supplemental required education and experience. Experience must be at a comparable level and directly related to the duties of this position.
