Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The Iowa State University Athletics Department is accepting applications for a Pilot to serve as both pilot in command (PIC) as well as second in command (SIC) in the King Air 350. This position will ensure safe operation of aircraft, compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations, aircraft limitations and University operating procedures. Position is responsible for making accurate aircraft performance calculations; detailed weather interpretations; ground support coordination; filing flight plans ensuring aircraft is clean and properly prepared for flights with all provisions on board. Will also assist in maintaining physical facilities, upkeep of aircraft, accurate records, providing excellent customer services to passengers, and working cooperatively with other pilots. Position is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations of the University, Conference, and NCAA. Will perform other related duties as assigned.
The successful candidate will possess a high level piloting ability, strong customer service skills and be committed to remaining current with safety practices and procedures. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse clientele. Position requires the ability to work evening and weekends on short notice.
Required Education and Experience
Associates Degree and at least two years related experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation or related field Turbine Pilot in Command (TPIC) King Air Experience Glass Cockpit/G1000 Experience BE30 Type rating
Commercial Pilots License; Airplane Multiengine land (AMEL); Multiengine Instrument Rating; Second Class Medical
Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate

This position is subject to compliance with the NCAA’s IAWP legislation which defines an individual associated with a prospective student-athlete (IAWP) as any person who maintains (or directs others to maintain) contact with the prospective student-athlete, the prospective student-athlete’s relatives or legal guardians, or coaches at any point during the prospective student-athlete’s participation in men’s basketball, women’s basketball, and/or football and whose contact is directly or indirectly related to either the prospective student-athlete’s athletic skills and abilities or the prospective student-athlete’s recruitment by or enrollment in an NCAA institution. This definition includes, but is not limited to, parents, legal guardians, handlers, personal trainers and coaches. A violation occurs if an IAWP is employed by the institution and, at the time of employment, a student-athlete who enrolled at the institution in the previous two years (and remains enrolled at the institution) was a prospective student-athlete by which the individual meets the definition of an IAWP. A violation also occurs if an IAWP is employed and, within two years after such employment, a prospective student-athlete by which the individual meets the definition of an individual associated with a prospective student-athlete enrolls as a full-time student in a regular academic term at the institution.
