Summary

Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) Extension, a program unit of Iowa State University Extension and Outreach, is seeking qualified applicants for a Graphic Designer I or II.

The ANR Extension Communications Team provides communications and marketing support to Iowa State University ANR Extension and Outreach. ANR Communications staff works directly with ANR Extension program areas on campus and in the field to develop and deliver educational publications, web content, news releases and articles, videos, webinars, displays, brochures and other collateral materials that support ISU Extension and Outreach in all 99 Iowa counties, nationally and internationally.

The Graphic Designer I will be responsible for developing a broad array of communications materials, including but not limited to educational publications, brochures, flyers, postcards, posters and other collateral that meets a broad range of client needs, including guidance to faculty and staff in the areas of best practices for graphic design and correct ISU Extension and Outreach branding. The Graphic Designer I will follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data for which answers are available or can be obtained, may contact in-house or outside vendors to verify print specifications and grasps professional-level knowledge and concepts of field while working in a progressive learning mode

As a member of the ANR Communications team, this individual will work closely with the ANR Communications team leader, content specialists and field staff, other members of the ANR Communications team, CALS Communications Office and ISU Extension and Outreach Organizational Advancement.

In addition to the Graphic Designer I duties, a Graphic Designer II will have solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals, exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems, and responds to a broad range of inquiries and requests.

The successful candidate will have the ability to work as part of a creative communications team, have good organizational skills and be able to manage multiple projects within specific budgets and timelines to meet client needs.

This position will be filled at the Graphic Designer I or II level. The level I position has minimum required qualifications of Bachelor’s degree and is a PS806 pay level. The level II position has minimum required qualifications of Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related experience and is a PS807 pay level. This position is a regular, fixed term appointment through 06/30/2023, based on performance and funding availability.
