Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

Facilities Planning and Management at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a Recommissioning Engineer and Manager. This position works as an engineer and leader of a hands-on team, which performs recommissioning on existing buildings. This position, and the team, optimize the performance of existing building systems, primarily heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and control systems. This position has many opportunities to make significant impacts on thermal comfort, energy use, system performance, and equipment life.

Responsibilities include managing and leading the recommissioning program and team, which includes the support, development, mentoring, supervision, evaluation, and motivation of the team members. This position is actively involved in providing recommissioning services as the team leader and engineer; continually develops and improves the recommissioning initiative as well. This position provides engineering services for the building maintenance shops as well as the maintenance and improvement projects identified through the recommissioning process. This position supports the capital renewal process for these projects by providing detailed technical review of design standards and documentation. Also provides project management and construction phase services for small, in-house maintenance and improvement projects.

The successful candidate will have exceptional analytical, decision making, and time management skills; strong interpersonal and collaborative skills; excellent communication and leadership skills; be detail oriented and have a strong commitment to public service. This position serves under the direction and supervision of the Assistant Director of Facilities Services in the Facilities Planning and Management Department.
