University of Iowa Community Credit Union Commercial Small Business Loan Officer in North Liberty, Iowa

Position Summary

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Commercial Small Business Loan Officer generates new business lending and deposit opportunities along with other revenue for GreenState Credit Union. The lender is responsible for evaluating loan applications to determine the eligibility for funding by assessing the financial health and creditworthiness. The lender is also responsible for structuring loan packages to meet the needs of the member while minimizing the risk to the organization. The lender manages client relationships and loan portfolios.

Salary Range for this position is $94,316.56 - $126,233.64/yr with a progressive benefit package. This position will be located in North Liberty, IA and is not a remote position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Performs essential duties and responsibilities in the following areas which may include but are not limited to those listed and are subject to change.

  • Demonstrates teamwork in all interactions with coworkers and in the completion of all duties and responsibilities.

  • Ensures confidentiality of member information.

  • Supports a diverse and inclusive work environment.

  • Communicates with applicants to gather additional information and clarify financial details.

  • Analyzes financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant documents.

  • Structures loan packages to meet the needs of borrowers while minimizing risk for the lending institution.

  • Assesses the creditworthiness of borrowers and determines the appropriate loan amount, interest rate, and repayment terms.

  • Manages existing client relationships, providing ongoing support and assistance as needed.

  • Identifies cross-selling opportunities and promotes additional lending products and services to clients.

  • Stays informed about industry trends, regulations, and market conditions that may affect lending decisions.

  • Collaborates with other departments, such as credit administration and legal, to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.

  • Monitors the performance of loans in the portfolio and take appropriate action to address delinquencies or defaults.

  • Represents the lending institution at networking events, conferences, and industry forums.

  • Other processes and duties to be assigned as they arise in the course of business

Job Requirements/Expectations

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education/experience preferred.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in commercial lending, small business banking or another related field.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • The ability to build and nurture relationships, working autonomously to demonstrate experience and expertise to small business clients and prospects.

  • Familiarity with CRM applications and proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

  • Broad knowledge of all credit union products and services and the ability to explain their features and benefits in written and oral presentations.

  • Knowledgeable of credit union philosophy, history, and practices.

  • Knowledgeable of lending regulations and best practices.

  • Strong organizational skills and problems-solving abilities.

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

  • Strong written and oral skills that can be used to communicate with outside contacts and credit union management.

  • High energy with ability to engage in conversation to success develop new business partnerships and relationships.

  • Ability, availability, and willingness to work additional hours as dictated by the workload.

  • Must be bondable.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports to the Vice President Commercial Lending

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is not responsible for the supervision of others.
